I'm Patty Arvielo, president of New American Funding and we're here to tell you a story that I think will be very inspiring because mortgage banking is such a great career and I think the barriers to entry are limitless and it's super important so I wanted to tell Franky's story so that we can share with you the opportunities that are out there for Latinos in America so Franky you've been with us for five months you are a millennial, a Hispennial, hablas espanol and you were born in Mexico so just tell us a little bit about your background You were born in Mexico what did you come here how did you come here to tell us your story great yeah I was well I’m born in Mexico in Oaxaca Mexico as you guys pretty much know a little bit of Oaxaca where we came from you know a very very little poor town I came from humble beginnings we were so poor that I told my mom, you know mom I need something I wanted to do something for you guys I want to do something for me and I decided you know to emigrate to the United States when I was 14 years old and at that time one of my brother's right here my oldest but my other brother he was here but I asked him to enroll me to school because I want to learn English so I can have better jobs and better things to do you know because it was really hard for me back in those days because my mom you know just told me that she was so poor that they didn't have food to eat So I thought about it was like well I'm going to make the difference and I’m going to change this you know I'm going to be the first one who is going to be changing everything and start looking for a job when I was 14 years old I remember no one you know wanted to hire me because I was minor I was only 14 years old so I got to change my age I put under my paperwork and everything I put that I was 18 and the guy that hired me, he hired me for the restaurant and then I worked for them for a little more than three years, then after I graduated I looked for my second job and the whole time, I got here in 2000I've been working really hard Rick met Frankie because Frank was washing our cars on the weekend and he was working at a taqueria in Corona Del Mar for many years right you were at chronic taco for, for about 12 years So Rick noticed right away that he had an extreme amount of work ethic and Rick and I talked a lot about "will over skill" because we can teach you the skill but you can't teach will you know its inherent and obviously you can see from your story which is like many stories you know I worked at the swap meet you know and the thing is I am a child I am like your children are my mother came here for a better opportunity and had
the same struggles as you did and you know I always I always quote that I am her American dream so it's very very doable that you came here for the right reasons and I think that you’re inspiring everybody by telling your story but I wanted you to talk a little bit about where you were right before Rick met you what you were doing in what you thought about it when he said why don't you come work with me so tell us a little bit about it I mean I’m sure you never really heard a mortgage banking you know you're working a chronic taco washing cars your probably thinking what is a mortgage so kind of let us
know how it felt when Rick reached out to you yeah that's true, well I was working at this restaurant serving Mexican food it seems like it's your favorite spot favorite restaurant so I was working for there for about12 years and one day I met this guy,
his name is Brian he took me to work with him he asked me if I wanted to I wanted to do the carwash business with him and I was like yeah I'm down you know I want to do something different I’ve been here for 12 years and I was working in the Carl's Jr. at the same time I was chronic so I got two jobs and then I quit Carl's Jr. to start washing cars with him because he was going to give me more little more money and I thought about, it was going to be cash so that's why and then when I saw
you out there, I was like I know them they're these people they go all the time to Chronic and he was like yeah they're
really nice people and I was like yeah it seems like it and that's what how I met Mr. Rick one day I was washing his cars and came to me he was like hey Frankie you're really good with your hands Is this what you're going to be doing all this for the rest of your life? And I was like well no, I’m looking for opportunity, for new opportunities. I do Christmas lights, I do catering, I have my own little taco cart. I talked to him about it and I do car wash and he was like well I want you to work for me
